Cycling holidays: Bassa Baronia region
This itinerary allows you to discover the geographical region that runs along the north coast of Dorgali: the so-called Bassa Baronia and the Cedrino Valley with its charming meditarrenean flavours, the historic hubs of its neat and small villages, Orosei and Galtellì, the rich, lushful plains and its mild climate.
It’s an easy trail for all that starts on the street Orientale Sarda, along our awesome crystal-clear emerald sea at the beginning, and then goes inland, crossing old towns with their stunning churches such as all the churches of Orosei, the parish church of Galtellì which houses a beautiful wooden crucifix of the 14 th century that it’s said to be miraculous and the Pontes Castle that goes back to the year 1070.
Among the most awaited town parties , there are the so-called Madonna del Rimedio Feast in September and Saint Antony Abate’ s in January , where you’ll be able to witness the 9 day long rite in the Cumbessias which are shelter places for the faithful. Such shelters are typical of all the major Sanctuary churches in the region.
